Carried Through the Sea by the Word of the Lord

There is a moment in Scripture that continues to stir my heart deeply, when the children of Israel stood at the edge of the Red Sea.

They had just been delivered from centuries of slavery, yet here they were: free, but trapped. Before them stretched an impossible body of water, and behind them thundered the army of Egypt. Pharaoh, with his hardened heart, had changed his mind once again and was coming for them, with chariots, horsemen, and a vengeance that promised destruction or return to slavery.

In that moment, all hope seemed lost. What could possibly be done? There was no boat, no bridge, no time. If Egypt caught up with them, the dream would be over before it began. The promised land would remain a distant, unattainable hope.

But then, in the face of what looked like certain defeat, God gave an instruction that defied logic: “Tell the children of Israel to go forward” (Exodus 14:15).

Go forward—where? Into the sea?

Yes.

God then gave Moses further instructions. And yes, the waters parted, the sea stood like a wall on either side, and they walked through on dry ground. Not only that, but the same sea that made way for them swallowed Pharaoh and his army.

Sometimes, life feels just like that moment. You know what God has promised you, your own “promised land,” and you know you are not meant to go back. But before you lies an impossible obstacle. No way forward. No sign of help. No reason to hope.

But like the Israelites, you are called to move forward. Even when it makes no sense. Even when the waters have not parted yet.

You may not see the full picture, but God does. The Red Sea did not part until they obeyed. Faith required movement. And that same God still parts seas.

Pharaoh, in your life, may be a difficult season. It may be fear, uncertainty, rejection, or an old life that keeps trying to pull you back. But do not let him stop you. He will try, but he cannot win. God has spoken, and God does not lie (Numbers 23:19).

If He said there is a promised land ahead, then not even a sea can stop you.

So move. Even if your feet are trembling, move. Walk in obedience. Take that step. Start that journey. Say yes to that instruction. And as you walk, the Red Sea will part, not just for you, but for the generations after you who will look back and say, “She walked through the sea. And because of that, we can too.”

Let the testimony of your life echo like Israel’s did. “The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace” (Exodus 14:14).

You will walk into your promise, not because you have all the answers, but because the One who promised is faithful.
