I'm not sure how I became best friends with cake, but for as long as I can remember, baking has always been a family activity. We bake for every birthday and every opportunity to do so. I can create whatever kind of cake you like. Whoosh, did I say any type of cake?
There is absolutely no cake style that I cannot make, from toasting cakes to baking cakes. Funny right? However, one huge difficulty I had was that I had never learned how to decorate a cake. I wasn't very interested in the decor; all I wanted to do was bake and eat.
My friend, a caterer, was getting married and her cakes weren't even prepared 2 days before the wedding and there was a traditional wedding on Friday, a bridal shower on Friday night, and a church wedding on Saturday morning. I was her Chief Bridesmaid and had to help her with some things, so we baked together, and I opted to decorate her bridal shower cake.
Prior to that, I'd been watching YouTube videos on how to create buttercream icing and was confident that I could execute what I saw. That night, I decided to create an ombre buttercream effect. I started alone and finished it; it was a disaster for me, but when our friends found out it was my first time trying out, they praised me.
I knew I could accomplish more if I had practised before going to check it out for the first time. Whatever the mind can conceive, it can achieve, as Napoleon Hill said. I had an idea and was able to realize it, but I could obtain a perfect result if I followed through with the necessary steps. My idea(s) will only be successful if I implement everything that is required.
I never tried decorating cakes again, but I learned that whatever idea I conceive in my mind can be realized, and it can only be a success if I dot all my i's and cross my t's.
Are you sleeping on your brilliant ideas, wake up right away and start working on them. There is a lot you can accomplish.
Till my next post, keep learning and growing.
Thank you for reading.
