Loved with an Everlasting Love

Loved by love

"I have loved thee with an everlasting love..." We've heard it, haven't we? Maybe in Sunday school as children or uttered casually in a passing conversation. But does it still resonate? Does it still move us? Sometimes, the sheer magnitude of such a statement can make it feel...well, cliché.

Love. It's a big word thrown around often. In a world saturated with empty promises and conditional affection, we raise our eyebrows, wanting to be sure. Is this love real? Am I worthy of it?

The answer lies not just in words but in a being: God. The Bible tells us in 1 John 4:8, "God is love," and this isn't some abstract concept. His love is the foundation of all existence, a force that predates the very creation of the world (Jeremiah 31:3).

And remember, love isn't just declared; it's demonstrated. God didn't simply say He loved us. He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, the ultimate sacrifice, a testament to His unwavering affection. If He did this, imagine the lengths He'd go to for us today!

The key lies in appropriating this love. It's not a passive blessing we merely hope for but an active force we can embrace and integrate into our lives. Here are some ways to do that:

  • Reflect: Meditate on scripture like Jeremiah 31:3 and John 3:16. Let these words sink in and personalize them. Realize this love is yours.
  • Pray: Talk to God. Acknowledge your doubts and struggles, and express your desire to experience His love fully.
  • Seek Community: Surround yourself with people who believe in this love and can support you on your journey.
  • Live it Out: Show God's love to others through your actions. Volunteer, offer kindness, and forgive freely. Remember, love isn't just received; it's shared.

This journey isn't about chasing a feeling but building a relationship rooted in unwavering truth. The "L word" might sound cliché at times, but it's the most profound truth when it comes to God's love.

Remember, you are loved. Not just with an everlasting love but with a love that actively seeks you out, transforms you, and empowers you to become the best version of yourself.
